I hope to get actual photos of our town, but for now, here are a few around our house:
So, in July, DH says, "Hey, Chris!" (translation: Yo. Woman.) "Why don't you figure out what kind of snake this is?"
"How am I supposed to do that, exactly? Sweetie."
"I dunno. Take it to a university or something."
This is the snake, two months later, with its guts sortof frozen in time.
Thing 2, getting ready to make pumpkin pie:

Love it!!!!! I especially adore the pumpking head mask! Thing 1 and 2 and too cute! Guess they take after their mother!!
heheheh!
Thanks Ello!
:-)
I hope to do a proper "My Town" soon... it's such a great idea!
That was fun to see a bit inside your life, Chris. I loved ths WIPs of thing 1 and 2. It made me feel much better about the state of my WIP!
I hope you got rid of the snake though - ewww.
Hey Sheri!!
I'm not touching that thing! What DH was thinking when he said that.... he was high.
:-)
I love the peek into domestic Chris! So thoughtful about the car. ;)
You'll have to update this when Things 1 and 2 finish their tree houses. I want to see the finished products. :)
isn't it all a work in progress?
Hi Sarah!
Thing 2 wants to paint his.
Thing 1 wants to add more floors... (I said NO! The nails are sticking out everywhere)
Hi Charles,
Yes, it is.
:-)
Yo!
Mo' da snake.
Heeee, Chris, I'm laughing my fat' off after having enlarged the photo of that special animal :))
Love thing 2's pumpkin pie.
Cool. I'll add you to next week's links and I look forward to more MTM posts from you. Everything I know from Baltimore comes from Ann Tyler novels.
Hi Szelsofa! YOu make me smile, because if anyone out there would choose the snake photo to enlarge, it would be you.
:-)
Hey Paca, I popped over to visit you--so glad I did too. I'm missing a lot.
Travis, I'll try to think of something interesting. And yes, Ann Tyler does Baltimore to a t.
Just imagine, I'm still laughing everytime I think about that snake.
But as a flash of light strike, I know why.
It's FAMILIAR!!
We have been storing a similar corpse for quite a long time.
Only ours used to belong to a squirrel.
So it's plain nostalgy.
Great, isn't it?
I ab-soul-out-Ell'-y feel fine, Chris by looking at those photo.
That, but I like your photos of your forest-like garden quite more.
Ha! As the Mom of 2 grown menchilds. I can really relate to those bird houses, believe it or not, my kids made places for bigfood to stop by and have supper..such as it was..whatever they hated for supper, made a landing strip for ET, in the back 2 acres..oh I am so glad I kept journals..they are great for my stories. I think your my town thing is an awesome idea. Love the snake..who by now is off playing at the rainbow bridge LOL..
I sure have fun visiting here./...when my puter works! durn it!
Ah, WIPs. They start so young.
Szelsofa--a squirrel corpse?
Would like to see a photo please.
:-)
Thanks Peggy--It's Travis' idea, and if you scroll through his blog, there will be some really nice links from all over the country. You should do it too!!
:-)
Shona, you made me lol!
:-)
As we have thrown the corpse on the compost heap, I have to dig.
I envy the amount of space you seem to have in the pictures.
I love the black eyed susan. They are almost impossible to kill. They're like a pretty weed. You plant them and they just spread (at least this has been my experience).
Szelsofa, digging is good exercise.
:-)
Struggling Writer,
We are new in this house, this neighborhood, and are grateful for every single moment. We hope to make it last...
:-)
looks like a wee snake to me, but then, whadda i know? :O lol
things go better with coke? ;) lol
That's going to be some birdhouse! Is thing 2 expecting the birds to climb the ladder? :)
Do you have a close-up of that snake? Maybe Blogger University can help you identify it....
;)
I love Black-eyed Susans! But that's because I live in PA, I bet everyone else loves mountain laurel, LOL.
I loved looking at the pictures, Chris!
THanks!
:-)
Aine, I LOVE the series you're doing on your site!
Pretty, pretty pictures! The pumpkin head is a real hit, for sure.
I took a close up picture of a Massassauga Rattler at my friend's house. It was under the porch. And not dead.
A good way to ID snakes is to Google your state + snakes, like this (including the quotation marks);
"Louisiana Snakes" or "Snakes of Louisiana"
Oftentimes that'll at least narrow it down quite a bit.
The treehouse reminds me of one our dad was building for us before he died. All it ever became was a ladder up to a couple of boards you could at least sit on (but I could climb even higher than those in the pines behind it, anyway.) We were so excited about it. After he died it became a sad, unfinished reminder of how things used to be. Needless to say, your photos here seem much happier & more full of life. :)
Chumplet, you are brave.
Danette Haworth does stuff like that. You two would be fast friends...
:-)
Hi Lana, Your story makes me sad. I'm sorry for that. Right now, these projects are literally turning into monsters. They don't want to stop, plus they want to do other trees....
{sigh}
:-)
great photos, I love My town Monday!!!
Hi Lyzzydee--thanks for stopping by!!
I love that series also!
:-)
Very fun!! I love the pics So, what kind of snake is it?
Welcome to MTM! We also have plenty of WIPs around my house, although I usually have other names for them...
Hi Barrie,
Hi Debra,
Wow! Thanks for popping over!! I have to do a proper My Town, I really do. I"ll stop by yours later to see what you're doing...
Thanks!
:-)
Man, you gotta love the car. :)
Jason, it's yours. Unless Aine says no.
